From 13 october - 18 october 2017 6m, 2m, 70cm EME. Mode JT65 and CW.
From 13 october - 21 october 2017

Group members:

Station:

6m 6M8GJ

2m 4 x 9el horizontal and 4 x 6el vertikal design I3DLI

70cm 2 x 28 el. m2

23, 13, 9, 6 and 3cm 1.5m dish 1x2mm mesh, automatic az and el control

1296: 100W at feed, circular, preamp at horn

23xx: 80W at feed, circular, preamp at horn

3400: 80W at feed, circular, preamp at horn

5760: 80W at feed, circular, preamp at horn

10xxx: 50W at feed, v-pol, preamp at horn

We plan to be QRV from 1296 and up as follows:
14. October MR to MS 1296
15. October MR to MS 23xx (we can TRX on all sub-bands, so no cross-band
needed, depending of course on the QRM situation)
16. October MR to MS 3400 (VK sub-band should be OK)
17. October MR to MS 5760
18. October MR to MS 10xxx (we can TRX on 368 and 450, no cross-band
needed)
19./20./21. October we will be QRV on the bands where there is the most
need, this will be decided during the operation.

We can QSY between the bands in less than 30 minutes, so we hope to
accommodate all (most) requests during those 3 days. Of course it is the
best to try to work us during the band-days but in case you miss us
you’ll have a good chance for a second shot!
We hope to have internet available to optimize our operation schedule.
On 1296, 23xx and 3400 we will use JT65c. If there is time and the signals
are strong enough we will do some CW. On 5760 and 10xxx we will use QRA64D
which has proven to perform better than JT4. If the signals are strong
enough we will try to do some CW. WSJT-X 1.8 rc2 should be available soon.
I strongly recommend to use it, including Doppler-Control. It has so many
advantages compared to WSJT 10. The Constant Frequency On Moon (CFOM)
Doppler tracking mode is absolutely great, it is so easy to use and all
stations can see/hear each other.

EME DX expedition HV0A

EME activity from HV0A on 2m and 70cm.

We are very glad to announce that we are invited to join the planned EME activity from Vatican City, HV0A in JN61FV, organized by Sergio, IK0FTA and Francesco, IK0FVC. They made it possible to receive permission for this operation, the first since 1999 on 2m and most likely the first ever on 70cm.

Please keep in mind some important notes:
HV location is in the centre of Rome in a very crowded area with a lot of QRM ! We will use the best receiver and filters we can find and hope we are able to receive the very weak EME signals. Chris PA2CHR visit the place in May for receive measurements and it is really bad!
Because of security reasons it is possible we are not able to enter the location, so operation might be cancelled just a few days in advance!

If all works out fine, this will be our schedule:
Friday August 28: moonrise at 18:00 UTC moonset at 03:00 UTC (Saturday 29) QRG: 144 MHz.
Saturday August 29: moonrise at 19:00 UTC moonset at 04:00 UTC (Sunday 30) QRG: 144 MHz.
Sunday August 30: moonrise at 19:30 UTC moonset at 05:15 UTC (Monday 31) QRG: 432 MHz.
Monday August 31: moonrise at 20:15 UTC moonset at 06:30 UTC (Tuesday 1/9) QRG: 144 MHz.

Equipment will be:
144 MHz: 24 el. X-pol yagi / FT1000 + Kuhne TR144H / Cavity preamps / bandpass filters / Beko HLV and Italab PA.
432 MHz: 38 el. M2 yagi / FT857 / Cavity preamps / bandpass filters / Italab PA.
Frequencies will be announced on location.

Log will be uploaded to LoTw and QSL via IK0FVC as usually.

Some tips to help us to qso with you

WSJT, put Z21EME in CALL3.TXT

Please call us when you CAN copy us. No need to have a good decode from us, you will decode us when we call you. usaly you can't decode signals -24 till 31 which are not for you, you see a # indicating we call someone else.

You don't need stop calling us when we are in QSO with someone else, after a QSO we will call the next station but only if he was TX'ing the period before.

Don't hop around, choose a freq to call us and stay there for a while. If you stop TX'ing, listen the next period and then change freq if you want.

We will not TX 73, if a QSO is complete by RX'ing 73 from you we call CQ or another station. (QSO is complete if both stations received both calls, a report and one or more R)

You need to send 73 after you got our RR, its good to know for us that we can call the next station.

For 6m we follow the the DX QSO procedure from Lance W7GJ, please read the procedure carefull.
